I THINK THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO ASK, WHERE DO THESE INEXPERIENCED TEACHERS WHO HAVE ONLY BEEN OUT OF COLLEGE FOR 2-4 YEARS GET THE IDEA THAT THEY KNOW WHAT ARE THE BEST METHODS IN TEACHING?
The New Way To Educate - Humiliate - Create Robots
The "No Excuses/No Nonsense" form of education/discipline being used by certain Charter School Management Companies is emotionally abusive, demeaning and is certainly not proving that it is producing better grades.
In the Charter School world this type of teaching/discipline has been referred to as “No Excuses” Charter schools. At the sound of each bell at a middle school, students were expected to line up at “level zero” with their faces forward and hands behind their backs and, when given permission, step into the hallway and onto strips of black duct tape. There they waited for the command of an administrator: “Johnny, you can move to your next class! Reminds me of pictures of Hitler school students.
Students are then marched until they have reached the STOP sign on the floor. Then their pass is checked for hallway permission before moving on to the next class or “restroom” time. Behavior infractions are being administered through their iPhones for everyone to see.
“No excuses” is also being used to foster “social justice” of which they are told it is to help them get into college. New Orleans and Detroit Charter stories are as interesting and shows education has come to be an element of social justice robots through intimidation. The children who are submissive are the most vulnerable and will do whatever they’re told without question – the others are weeded out and treated badly enough they ask their parents to remove them from the schools.
“These schools are not geared to what students have to know – that is considered a waste of time”. Play, relaxation or extra-curricular activities are not important. The view of time and strict discipline are related by the way. In order to get these kids to attend with very long hours—they have extended days and extended weeks — you have to be tough with the kids, really severe. They want these kids to understand that when authority speaks you have to follow because that’s basic to learning.”
They claim that more rigorous and uniform teaching methods along with scripted curriculum geared to being successful on high-stakes tests is the path to success. It sounds great until you understand the path being used is a very deliberate behavior modification regime that they insist all the children follow which begins in kindergarten and consists of submission, obedience and self-control.
If a child doesn’t conform to these rules then they are going to precipitate the next domino and the next domino. It’s going to have a cascading effect on their behavior and pretty soon they are going to be very disruptive.
Discipline comes in the form of being isolated from the rest of the class - they have to wear different colored shirts, can’t talk even to ask questions, may sit on a lower bench than the other children or the front of the class and messages are sent out to the whole class targeting what would be considered an infraction for all to know. And it’s all about the deliberate shaming of the kids.
For years now, advocates of the “no excuses” brand of charter school have denied the obvious. While loudly proclaiming the test scores and graduation rates of the students who remain at their schools are at the top, (not all true), they have denied that their application processes combined with the harsh discipline environments that emphasize extreme conformity to extreme behavioral expectations area form of “cream skimming” designed to drive out students less likely to burnish their reputations as “miracle factories.” (Low income students – hence all the offers from the feds to place charters in low income areas).
It has also produced very high rates of suspension in these schools which in some cases is not being documented and it is from the statistics, being aimed at the black students.
The main problem with this education is Mastery Learning supports the ideology that the individual students meet certain standards or learning outcomes, but since our children are NOT common and do learn different things at different paces – hence the ongoing failure of the use of this method of teaching. A more complete description of Mastery Learning can be found here. Mind indoctrination and brain washing works better for these evil people on little children.
So what are we as parents going to do about this? It will apparently be coming to Florida soon with the States new love fest with AIR at a very expensive cost I might add. If anyone wishes more research information just let me know. Nothing else has worked in this state so - - - - -
The agenda of the December 20, 2011 meeting is 234 pages long. Interesting item on page 140 - The MCS is recommending that we spend $566,000.00 for the Center for Transformative Teacher Training to train all 7000 teachers in Memphis city Schools on the No-Nonsense Nuturer (NNN) Classroom Management/Culture Program. The Second goal of the work is to take a deeper look at the impact of the NNN Classroom Culture Program. This second proposal focuses on the development of schoolwide culture plans, training staff on the concepts of No-Nonsense Nurturer and training coaches to become Real Time Teacher Coaches to improve the implementation of No-Nonsense Nurturer (NNN) in five Memphis Schools. According to a board member, this proposal passed. TAX DOLLARS SPENT WISELY?
Excerpt's from "I Am Not Tom Brady" Why are urban teachers being trained to be robots? by Amy Berad Great article - I recommend you read it - paints a very disturbing picture especially if you care about your children. by Amy Berard
Amy grew up in Lawrence, a half a mile away from the Guilmette Middle School where she taught ELA last year. She was let go at the end of the school year after administrators determined that she was not the *right fit* for Lawrence.

1. No Nonsense Nurturing (NNN) is supposed to make the teachers become more effective instructors by providing *immediate, non-distracting feedback to teachers using wireless technology.* In other words, earpieces and walkie talkies. Meanwhile an official No Nonsense Nurturer, along with the school’s first year assistant principal and first year behavior intervention coach, controlls the teacher remotely from the corner of the room where they shared a walkie talkie. I referred to the CT3 training as C-3PO after the Star Wars robot, but C-3PO actually had more personality than we were allowed. The robot also spoke his mind.
2. If you’re not familiar with No Nonsense Nurturing or NNN, let’s just say that there is more nonsense than nurturing.
3. NNN is a robotic style of teaching that treats, and disciplines, all students the same. This translated into the specific instruction that forbids teachers from speaking to our students in full sentences.
4. The teacher who wrote this article was told by the trainers "that my tone was wrong, my voice was too high, and that I came across as too happy—I smile a lot; I celebrate a lot, including every two weeks when the flowers on my cactus bloom".
5. The teacher was told to stand in mountain pose and not to favor one leg over another. I was told not to cross my legs. My body language must be in no way casual (or human). And I needed to stop conveying so much excitement at the students’ accomplishments.
6. One student told this teacher to *Just be yourself,* another student told me. *Don’t be who they want you to be. Don’t become like the rest.* These kids thankfully had not been "indoctrinated" as of yet.
7. Want to guess what this program would charge your school district? Shelby County, TN is going to shell out $566,000 for this NONSENSE or should I say Robotic Indoctrination? This money would pay for the instructional indoctrination of all 7000 teachers in the Memphis city schools on the No-Nonsense Nuturer (NNN) Classroom Management/Culture Program. This is an average of $8,085.71 per teacher - money well spent I would guess.
8. The second goal is the development of schoolwide culture plans, training staff on the concepts of No-Nonsense Nurturer and training coaches to become Real Time Teacher Coaches to improve the implementation of No-Nonsense Nurturer (NNN) in five Memphis School. The proposal passed!
