DeVos is a believer, and a powerful influence wielder for the special interest she has championed. But that doesn't make her the right pick to helm an entire arm of the federal government. Wealth should not buy a seat at the head of any policy-making table.”

Betsy DeVos - A Disaster for Education?
Are Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, & Creativity DeVos' By Words - she uses them in every speech she gives and one thing is certain - our children are NOT being taught Critical Thinking, how to Communicate since most of their non-school time is buried in their phones, computers or a TV or Creativity since that goes hand in hand with Critical Thinking. Communication is being learned not in school but the afore mentioned TV and computers since most of our children know only how to yell and name call. Those who are making it and will find a place in the world, are from solid Christian families that teach their children respect and love of their fellow man. They aren't going getting that in school.
DeVos is pushing for the combining of the Dept. of Education and Labor stating it would "be an important step in reducing the federal footprint". She will have to define that further since both departments are run by the federal government.
DeVos' prepared remarks at the National Leadership & Skills Conference eluded to a comparison of the U.S. education system with Switzerland stating "their approach (Switzerland) is one from which we can all learn a great deal". Does DeVos not know that:

DeVos' prepared remarks at the National Leadership & Skills Conference eluded to a comparison of the U.S. education system with Switzerland stating "their approach (Switzerland) is one from which we can all learn a great deal". Does DeVos not know that:
- Switzerland is a Socialist-liberal country: Socialist not in the USSR sense, but more in the Scandinavian/Nordic sense, because of the good welfare system (although not as complete as the one found in Nordic countries, where for example tertiary education is free), and disgregard of more capitalistic and laisses-faire economic models (forgive me my French). Liberal in a social sense, because of some core values of the Swiss culture (respect for personal privacy of citizens, which is a the basis of the bank secrecy; or right to euthanasia, which is another example of a state that doesn't want to decide too many things for its citizens...).
- Or as a national-socialist country: Again, not in the Nazi sense, but in the sense of a country with a good welfare system, but also a patriotic stance of some issues, like neutrality, preservation of traditional Swiss culture, staying out from the EU, protectionism in agriculture, etc...In the latest years some of these aspects have been lost a bit (unfortunately in my POV), but there is still an higher degree of patriotism and preservation of the Swiss way of life in the country. I'm sure that even the more "internationalist" political movements in Switzerland, like the Communist parties, are still more patriotic and isolationists, if compared with the ones of their fellow neighbors (France, Italy, Germany, Austria).
